Next to the Peoria Central Fire Station just blocks from downtown Peoria at the corner of Monroe and Hancock, you will not find a more beautiful historic sanctuary if you go to Chicago or New York. Formerly a Synagogue, the architecture is absolutely stunning. The ten commandments are engraved in bronze which is set in marble behind the altar, and you will definitely notice the main chandelier. But the most impressive are the most beautiful stained glass windows that you may ever see. It is not unusual for members of the current synagogue to stop to show friends their former place of worship. They do not have a website. Call Pastor Goode for a time.

The Gateway is very picturesque, with many settings in addition to a gorgeous contemporary upstairs reception venue. When we photographed Jennie and Kurt’s wedding reception here, we photographed them with the wedding party by the fountain and the Peoria Riverfront. Then at sunset, we photographed the two of them as bride and groom on the upstairs balcony with the Illinois River in the background as the sun was going down. How gorgeous and romantic!
